Fire engulfs four shops, cotton warehouse in Abbottabad

Four shops including a godown of cotton store were burnt into ashes with damage to small portion of City Police station building here on Sunday.

Fire which broke out in the cotton and bed quilt shop of Jehangir Khan in the thickly populated area of Abbottabad city spread over to three-storey building in fast note.

However, local fire brigade’s four vehicles with two fire tenders of cantonment board and two of Mansehra Municipal Committee after tiring efforts of three hours brought fire under control with the help of volunteers and police staff.

Abbottabad DSP Aziz Afridi dashed the spot and removed all the record of city police with ammunition and other material to safer place and supervised the rescue operation.

Later Provincial Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, DPO Abbottabad Sher Akbar Khan and Assistant Commissioner Mir Ozgan with other officials also visited the site and witnessed the rescue operation.

Municipal Corporation Abbottabad’s fire tenders reached the spot of incident sharply but due to damaged pipes, the water could not get the required pressure and was leaking from many spots.
