69 suspects including foreigners arrested during search operation

At least 35 suspects including foreigners were arrested in a joint operation by intelligence agencies and police in Raiwind on Monday.

According to police sources, at least 14 foreigners were among the arrested persons in which eight were Afghans and six belonged to Kyrgyzstan, while five were from South Punjab, five from Karachi and 11 from FATA.

Police said that terrorist’s guide Shakeel entered Lahore from Dera Ismail Khan on June 25 and is currently residing in Raiwind. A 13-year-old suicide bomber including many other suspicious people also accompanied Shakeel and can conduct any terrorist activity in the metropolis, police added.

In context of this entire situation, a joint search operation was carried out by police and intelligence agencies.

Moreover, the residents have also been barred from coming out of their homes unnecessarily.

In a separate search operation in Chashma, police arrested 24 suspected persons. The DPO said the search operation was carried on reports of presence of anti-state elements in Chashma Barrage and Chashma Hydro power project areas.
