The district administration has put different departments on high alert after a flood warning was issued by the canal department while the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has constituted 26 mobile teams to cope with any challenge during the coming monsoon in Lahore.
As per details, the flood is expected in rivers Chenab and Jehlam during July 6 to July 9.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Khalid Mehmood Shiekh directed officials to make all possible arrangements to facilitate people in riverine areas.
Additional District Collector Ishfaq Ahmed informed that they had completed all possible arrangements, adding that flood relief related crew had been sent in the riverine areas for evacuation and providing other facilities.
MOBILE TEAMS TO COPE WITH ANY CHALLENGE DURING MONSOON
Meanwhile, on the special directive of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the WASA has constituted 26 mobile teams to cope with any challenge during the coming monsoon in the city.
WASA Managing Director Chaudhry Naseer Ahmad said that 72 generators had been installed at all major disposal stations and sensitive lift stations for continuous operations of pumping sets at 35 lift stations.
He said that all important low lying areas in the provincial metropolis had already been identified and special heavy machinery for prompt disposal of rain water would be deployed well on time.
He said proper cleaning of all drains passing through different areas of the city had also been carried out properly under the supervision of Xens and SDOs concerned.
“The WASA caters to the needs of 70 million, of the 11 million total population of the district having the largest network of sewerage and potable water comprising a network of 3949 km long sewerage, 14 number of major disposal stations, total pumping stations of 2698 cusec feet per second (CFS) 92 lift stations with 2252 CFS capacity,” he elaborated.
