  • Team finishes at 8th place after losing 2-1 to France

It was another dark day for Pakistan hockey as the team was beaten 2-1 by France ending their World Hockey League campaign at eighth position.

In their match for the seventh/eighth position in the Olympic qualifiers, the team performed as if they were not even familiar with the sport.

France drew first blood in the match as Simon Brisac-Martin scored for the side in the 13th minute. The French side then doubled the side as Hugo Genestet scored the second goal for the side.

Mohammad Tausiq managed to pull a goal back in the fourth quarter but it was too late.

It should be noted that Pakistan lost to teams such as Great Britain, Ireland and France. They were thrashed by Australia 6-1 earlier in the tournament and managed to draw their crucial game against India.

The side failed to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro for the first time in 60 years.
