The district administration has banned the entry of Suzuki vans on Murree Road, sparking protest from transporters.
The service has now been diverted to Committee Chowk, Rawal Road, Chandi Chowk and Sadiqababd.
The route diversion has sent waves of consternation among Suzuki vans operators, who would transport passengers from different areas to the Metro Bus Stop on Murree Road.
The transporters said that the route diversion will deal a blow to their operations, which has already been facing a financial crunch.
The protesters shouted slogans against the local administration, demanding to restore the routes.
Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Transport Authority secretary reached the spot and held negotiations with the protesting transporters. He assured the transporters that their genuine demands will be met and old routes would be restored.
