A former military man, who, after his service, has been associated with both sides of the (then) political divide, claims o be in thick soup these days because of a series of scathing articles against his original employers. He fears the institution won’t show him the Old Boys Exemption this time round and has expressed as much to an international journalists’ rights watchdog.

The government has decided to send him off to be our man in Havana, allegedly as reward for series of flattering articles that he wrote about the government.

Nice try and nice cigars!

Three individuals are said to be putting in some long hours with their lawyers at the judicial commission that has been set up to investigate the ’13 rigging allegations.

One is Najam “Paintee Painchar” Sethi, who has just received a shot in the arm since the allegations have been admitted to have been political statements.

The other is former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. And the third is the country’s largest media baron.

All three are said to have decided that they will not settle for merely the allegations against them to be quashed. No, they have decided to take Imran Khan to the cleaners and insist on being paid damages.

All those slander damages are going to cause far more than a “paincher” or two to the Bani Gala estate.
