The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) demolished two more illegal marriage lawns on Saturday in an operation against illegal marriage lawns in the city.
Bagh Saman marriage lawn in Gulberg and NED Marriage Hall in Azizabad were taken down. Both of the marriage lawns were constructed on lands allocated for welfare purpose and were being used commercially.
KMC spokesperson Bashir Ahmed Sadozai said the city administration had decided to demolish all the marriage halls constructed on a welfare lands and being used commercially and all such constructions were being dismantled phase wise.
“This operation will leave no such illegal constructions. A list of illegal marriage halls has been prepared constructed on lands allocated for welfare purpose,” he said. He warned the people who owned illegal constructions to themselves destroy illegal constructions in their own interest, otherwise during demolishing by the KMC other things could also get affected.
