Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has said that the party performed well in the province which was evident from the by-elections held in Okara, Nankana and Mandi Bahauddin in which PPP candidates bagged more votes than what they had secured in the 2013 elections.

Talking to a news channel, Wattoo pointed out that his son Khurram Jahangir Wattoo and his daughter Jehan Ara Wattoo were given party positions by the high command prior to his appointment as the provincial president.

He said that that the defections of Ashraf Sohna and resignations of several other party leaders including Samsam Bukhari would not impact the party in any way. “In fact, our workers in Okara district are now more committed to serving PPP after the defection of Ashraf Sohna,” he said.
