Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Greater Iqbal Park Project is of vital importance for highlighting Pakistan Movement and its importance.
Addressing a meeting to review progress on the project, Sharif said that work should be carried out speedily on this project of historical importance. He said that no compromise will be made on the completion of the state-of-the-art project. He said that a separate authority will be set up for the implementation of the project.
The chief minister said that a museum will also be set up to document Tehreek-e-Pakistan in which pictures of heroes of Pakistan Movement will be displayed and special programmes will be held for highlighting the aim and objectives of Pakistan Movement. He said that maximum recreational facilities will be provided to the people under Greater Iqbal Park Project. He said that a train and a buggy will also be operated in the park while separate place will be allocated for children for playing. He said that an open air gym will also be set up in the park.
The CM said that all matters regarding the project will be outsourced and third party audit will be compulsory for ensuring transparency and high standard. He said that Greater Iqbal Park Project will play an important role in highlighting the culture and historical heritage of Lahore. Additionally, it will inform the new generation about the importance of Pakistan Movement and the efforts and services of national heroes. He said that landscaping of the entire project in modern and old style will be carried out while a lake will also be developed in Greater Iqbal Park Project.
Turk experts while appreciating master planning of Greater Iqbal Park Project described it as splendid. They said that the Punjab CM has evolved a glorious project for transferring the historical heritage of Pakistan to the new generations.
Regretfully, Greater Iqbal Park Project seem another luxurious preposition costing billions of rupees of poor tax payers money. There are lot many parks lying barren since their inception since last decades at various localities in Lahore, not to speak of other cities , towns of Punjab where say 100 million population direly need such facilities, which if developed may go a long way in providing healthy atmosphere to the residents. Such huge investment based on wishful thinking of rulers, based on self conceived priorities is a cruel joke to the suffering public.
So called Khadim-e-Aila could not do anything to redress the sufferings of blind, most vulnerable part of our population. In the civilized countries, such people get VIP treatment in every walk of life.
Who authorised the rulers to make such luxurious spendings on a park out of limited resources. This is the real dictatorship in the disguise of democracy.
