An anti-terrorism court (ATC) handed over nine Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) alleged extortionists to Rangers for 90-day-remand on Friday.
The workers included sector in-charge Syed Zubair Ashraf, Shakir Raza, Muhammad Hamid, Imtiaz Ahmed and Hassan Abbas Zaidi.
Earlier on Thursday, Rangers rounded up workers of the MQM for forceful collection of fitra. The rangers also said that at least a thousand fitra receipts and cash worth Rs 31,500 were recovered during the action and voiced their resolve that they would not let any party to forcibly collect Fitra and Zakat. The Rangers spokesman appealed to the citizens to inform any attempt of forced collection of Zakat and Fitra.
