PESHAWAR: The army accepted Election Commission of Pakistan’s request for deployment of army personnel at 365 polling stations in 14 districts on July 5, as per sources.
The information was shared by ECP Secretary Babar Yaqoob at a meeting chaired by KP Chief Secretary Amjad Afridi on Thursday at the Chief Minister House.
The provincial election commissioner, senior army officials and Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary Arbab Mohammad Arif were in attendance.
The purpose behind deploying the army is to maintain law and order and prevent widespread mismanagement which was witnessed on May 30.
