The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken the final decision to demolish more than 40 illegal kachchi abadis established in Federal capital.
CDA has sought help from Islamabad police and district administration Islamabad to maintain law and order situation and counter any resistance if put up by the dwellers of these slums during operation.
In the light of directives of Islamabad High Court, CDA, police and district management have decided to launch operation.
Sources said Islamabad police and district administration has assured CDA of their full cooperation in the campaign against illegal settlements.
CDA spokesperson Ramazan Sajid said that the katchi abadis issue is still sub-judice. The strategy for the demolition of kachchi abadis will be worked out and the court will be informed thereof and then a final decision will be taken. “We are not going to conduct the operation through media,” he added.
DCO Islamabad Capt (R) Mushtaq has said that illegal settlements have become a security risk for the Federal Capital.
DCO further said there is no information available that who is residing in the illegal settlements and the inmates of these slums are involved in many criminal and illegal activities.
