Eid arrived earlier than expected for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the National Assembly as they have been paid Rs 850,000 each in accumulated salaries despite remaining absent from the assemblies, a news channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the channel, PTI members have been given salaries for 11 months in lump sum payment. The salary of the members had been withheld due to auditing issues.
The channel said that applications filed in the National Assembly against the PTI members for receiving salaries despite their absence have not been declared void as the members have received their salaries. The voting on the matter, the channel said, depends upon the discretion of the National Assembly speaker.
