ISLAMABAD:
PM Nawaz and the top military leadership agreed on Tuesday to accelerate the ongoing surgical operation in Karachi, no matter what. The decision was taken during a meeting at the PM House.
According to an official statement, the two discussed matters related to Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan as well as the return, rehabilitation resettlement of the temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) in the tribal regions.
Sources privy to the meeting said the premier and the army chief devised the future strategy for the Karachi operation and discussed the agenda of the PM’s visit to the metropolis on Wednesday.
They said the premier would try to keep up with the Pakistan Peoples Party’s leadership in Sindh on the ongoing Karachi operation and would avoid speaking about the controversies surrounding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
