Eid shopping picking up speed

With the advent of the second Ashra of the holy month of Ramzan, the preparations for the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Fitr have started gaining momentum in the federal capital, like other cities.

The young girls and boys, especially children, are enthusiastic about buying their clothes, shoes and other accessories for Eid and make the festival  memorable.

The pleasant weather after frequent rain spells has made it easier for people to visit shopping malls and main market.

The vendors have set up various stalls carrying bangles, jewellery, henna and other stuff in the main markets including Super, Jinnah Super, Aabpara and Karachi Company to attract the customers. Different fashion brands and boutiques have displayed an exquisite variety of fabrics offering different price ranges according to the affordability of the customers.

The shopping frenzy is expected to reach its peak in the first week of July for the salaried class as salaries are received around that time.

“Buyers have started taking interest in Eid shopping as the second Ashra of Ramzan has started,” Alam Khan, a shopkeeper at Karachi Company said.

He observed that the salaried class was most probably waiting for their salary to arrive. “We are hopeful to earn a handsome profit this year,” he added.

Saima, a young girl said, “I bought my Eid dress and shoes and will go for rest of the things including bangles, jewellery, henna on the `Chaand Raat’ with my friends.

She said, most of the shops have displayed new Eid collections of dresses, shoes, hand bags and other stuff and it is better to buy such things during the mid of Ramzan otherwise the good stuff is purchased by the people.

Eid-ul-Fitr is the biggest festival for all the Muslims across the world and Muslims celebrate this festival with great religious zeal and enthusiasm.
