ISLAMABAD:
The government has released only Rs437 million till the second last day of the outgoing fiscal year, not living up to its promise of protecting public sector development.
The money was released till June 29, according to documents seen by a private media outlet.
The squeeze on releases came to meet the key condition of the $6.6-billion programme, which is to restrict the budget deficit to 4.9% of Gross Domestic Product in fiscal year 2014-15.
