Medico-Legal Officers (MLOs) at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Monday boycotted their duties to protest against poor security arrangements and insufficient working facilities for them in the institution.
Senior MLO at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) Dr Nisar Ali Shah while talking to media said that the officials are working without basic facilities in the hospital. They consitions, he said, haev compelled them to boycott their duties to register protest. He said there is no proper office space, furniture or even examination tables for MLOs in the hospital.
He said poor security arrangements and insufficient working facilities have been haunting them for long but the CHK administration has failed to solve these issues despite repeated requests.
He said the boycott will continue till the provision of facilities to MLOs on the pattern of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
He said MLOs have been deprived of allowances and the Police Surgeon is using delaying tactics in given allowances and other facilities to them.
He demanded of the government to establish a Medical Legal Directorate for MLOs, provide facilities and allowances to them for improving their performance at workplace.
He further demanded the government to remove the sitting Police Surgeon and Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Karachi as they have so far failed to provide basic facilities to the MLOs
