Unidentified armed men shot dead a local journalist in Usta Muhammad area of Jaffarabad district on Sunday.

Police said that unidentified armed men forcibly entered the house of Zafrullah Jatak and opened indiscriminate fire, leaving him dead on the spot. The assailants managed to escape from the scene.

The police shifted the body to hospital for post-mortem. According to doctors, the victim received multiple bullet wounds which caused his instant death.

“The victim was asleep in his bedroom when he was shot dead by unknown armed men,” police said, adding that he was working for a Quetta-based newspaper as tehsil correspondent.

Later, the body was handed over to the heirs after autopsy and legal formalities. “It is yet to be ascertained whether any enmity was behind the murder or it was targeted killing,” the police said.
