Interior Ministry seeks Rs 260m to strengthen FIA

The Interior Ministry has sought Rs260 million additional funds from the Finance Division to further strengthen the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to promptly investigate cases related to cyber crime and other related matters.

A source in the interior ministry told Online that the request has been forward to the Finance Division after the FIA sought addition budget through an application.

The source said that the FIA has mentioned in the request that the agency urgently needed modern investigation gadgets to probe and investigate cyber and other communication crime.

The FIA has also mentioned that its personnel lacked latest weapons to raid and counter strong groups, who may challenge them with the help of latest and powerful weapons.

Currently, the FIA has 45,000 G-3 rifles and a few SMGs alongside other ammunitions.

“The interior ministry has decided to provide the latest technology to the FIA to enable it in conduct prompt operations into crime,” said the source.
