The budget of Gilgit-Baltistan for the next fiscal year with total outlay of above 31.921 billion rupees was presented on Sunday.
Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman presented the budget in the Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly. Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly Fida Muhammad Noushad chaired the session.
The newly-elected PML-N government of Gilgit-Baltistan has taken over the charge a couple of days ago and due to shortage of time the session was summoned on Sunday.
The assembly will pass the budget before the start of the next fiscal year falling on first July. Rs 21.984 billion have been allocated for non-development expenditures while 9.937 billion rupees for the development expenditures.
In order to facilitate students in Gilgit-Baltistan, the chief minister said that laptops would be provided to students who did not fall under the jurisdiction of the KarakoramUniversity. “We will have a fund of Rs 200 million to help deserving students,” he added.
During the next fiscal year, 200km roads would be metaled, while 100km long roads would also be constructed.
