KP police involved in electricity theft

The police of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa province of Pakistan has been found involved in electricity theft. Furthermore, KP Police is also a defaulter of Rs 60 million of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) is trying to avoid any action against the police despite the availability of ample evidence. The reason for PESCO is not taking any action is that police has been fully cooperating in province-wide operation against power thefts.

PESCO sources confirmed that at least 10 police stations are involved in power thefts and a local news channel was also able to obtain footage of police stations using electricity from illegally hooked connections.

KP police is a bill defaulter of 60 million rupees to WAPDA while Peshawar police is a bill defaulter of 24 million rupees. Despite several letters of PESCO to police, it has not cleared the arrears yet.
