Special prayers were offered in the city mosques for rains after the Jumma prayers on the second Friday of Ramzan.
Prayers leaders and ulema prayed Allah, the Almighty, to bring blessing showers and rid the Karachiites from the blistering heat wave that has so far claimed more than 1000 lives. They urged the people to refrain from sins and seek mercy of Allah. They said they were suffering these troubles due to their and rulers’ wrongdoing. They also prayed for the victims of sunstroke.
Though it was an unbearably warm noon, but all mosques of the city were packed to capacity with people including children and elderly people. At many places big marquees and tents were arranged on streets in front of the mosques to accommodate people.
It was observed that many fasting people had covered their heads with wet handkerchiefs, small towels and caps to save them from heatstroke.
