The NEPRA has approved reduction in power tariff by Rs 1.86 per unit under fuel adjustment surcharge. The slash is not applicable to the K-Electric consumers.

The NEPRA gave the decision after conducting hearing of an application filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Friday. The CPPA had contended that the cost of power generation decreased in April and the power tariff should be slashed by Rs 2.62 per unit. The NEPRA accorded approval to a reduction of tariff by Rs 1.86 per unit instead.

According to the NEPRA, the reduction has been made under the head of fuel adjustment surcharge for the month of April. The relief in power tariff will be passed on to consumers in the current month bills.
