Accident leaves 10 dead near Shah Noorani Shrine

At least 10 pilgrims were killed in a road accident near Shah Noorani Shrine on Friday.

According to police, the ill-fated bus carrying dozens of pilgrims met the accident near Shah Noorani Shrine resulting in the death of 10 people. At least 30 were reportedly wounded. The injured were rushed to a hospital for emergency medical aid and some of them were said to be in critical condition.

All the victims belonged to Shah Faisal Colony of Karachi. Police say that the bus was speeding. Meanwhile, 17 people including women were injured when a passenger bus overturned at Shah Hussain Bypass in Khairpur. Six women among 17 people were injured in the accident who were shifted to Civil Hospital Khairpur for treatment and, according to hospital sources, condition of some wounded people was serious. Police said the accident took place due to speeding and reckless driving.

ONE KILLED, TWO INJURED IN INCIDENTS

A boy was killed and two others were injured in separate incidents in the metropolis on Friday.

A 19-year-old boy, Ashfaq, son of Arif, resident of Landhi, was electrocuted during work in a factory in Sherpao Colony Landhi. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for an autopsy.

Separately, Ali Murad, 18 and Ubaid, 12, son of Ahsan, residents of Malir were injured when a speeding vehicle hit the bike they were riding near Karsaz. They were brought to JPMC for treatment.

JSQM STAGES DEMO FOR JUSTICE

The Jeay Sindh Quomi Mahaz activists took out a protest rally and held a demonstration outside the press club on Friday, holding party flags in their hands, chanting slogans, demanding arrest of accused involved in the murder of JSQM Kambar President Abdullah Soomro.

Khurshid Kehar, Mushtaque Kumbhar, Sartaj Shaikh, Aamir Soomro and others said that JSQM workers and other nationalists were selectively killed and the police were busy in supporting influential politicians. They demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the criminal cases or else they would be forced to enlarge their scope of protests. Meanwhile, SSP Larkana Kamran Nawaz after taking serious notice of highhandedness of two cops with a labourer few days ago, suspended SHO Muhammad Mangrio for negligence and posted Abdul Ghafoor Chutto in his place.
