Taliban dissociate themselves from Afghan peace talks

ISLAMABAD:

The leadership of Afghan Taliban has claimed of disassociating itself from the process in which Pakistan had been encouraging their dialogue with the government of Afghanistan for peace and reconciliation in the region, as per reports.

The militant group’s move has come as a setback to the government.

“If something as such has happened or is planned for the future then it is mere personal interaction which can in no way ever represent the Islamic emirate,” said a statement emailed to journalists on Wednesday by Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid.
