Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday lashed out at both federal and provincial governments over recent deaths due to heat wave and power cuts.
He expressed annoyance in a press conference in Karachi saying that during crisis, both the governments acted like silent spectators as the number of deaths in Karachi rose to hundreds.
Khan said children were dying in Tharparkar and the government was doing nothing. He urged the people not to give charity to any party whose leaders had their assets in foreign countries. He said “royal family” had flown to Dubai amidst crisis.
The opposition party chief said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari have their assets and wealth in foreign countries. Pointing out the ruling party’s leaders, Khan said whenever they had to hide their wrongdoings and corruption they start giving flame to democracy.
While answering a question, Khan denounced PM’s decision to invest in energy projects. He said that mafia was making money in Karachi through everything even potable water. He called for bringing culprits to justice, who according to him, have put Pakistan in crisis.
While commenting on electricity situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the PTI chairman said that the provincial government had asked the federation many a times to give Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) in KP government’s jurisdiction.
The PTI chief also talked about the hot issue of British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) report against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He said the MQM would have to give answers and prove that it was not guilty. BBC has alleged MQM of treason against country, he added. Khan said if there was no truth in the allegations then MQM should approach court and lodge a case against BBC.
Khan posed a question to MQM leaders: “Was the situation in Karachi disturbed every time on RAW’s directives?”
The PTI leader said the ruling party did not meet the promises it had made to the people before elections. Earlier, Khan reached Jinnah Hospital to pay visits to the heat stroke patients, however, the doors of the emergency ward were shut and people who had come for checkups had to wait outside in the sun.
