UK cops to interrogate Imran Farooq murder case suspects

 

Talking to reporters on Tuesday in the federal capital, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that a two-member team of London Metropolitan Police was arriving in Islamabad soon to interrogate a suspect in Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

The minister said the accused wanted by the London Police was arrested in Karachi under Anti-Terrorism Act. He said the London Police was informed through diplomatic channels that they could interrogate the arrested person.

Nisar added that two other suspects in the case were arrested in Chaman and were being interrogated by FC in Quetta. They are also likely to be brought to Islamabad for further interrogation, he said.

To a question, the interior minister said the United Kingdom will have to make a fresh request for interrogation of these two accused.

The minister emphasised that Dr Farooq’s case should not been seen as Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)-centric. He pointed out that MQM was on record, having said on numerous occasions that they want to bring the murderers of Dr Farooq to justice.

Nisar held out an assurance that investigation into Dr Farooq’s case would be transparent and will be done without any prejudice or any favour. He said a joint investigation team would be formed for interrogation of the accused.

To another question, the Interior minister said model Ayan Ali case was investigated by Customs Intelligence and a meeting was being held today (Wednesday) to take stock of other aspects of the case. He said it was more important as for whom she was working and where the money was to be smuggled.
