Interior minister inaugurates three road projects worth Rs 1100m in Rawalpindi

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Sunday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has clearly stated that the next election will be fought on the basis of the energy issue and if the ruling party fails to overcome this crisis, it would have to pay for it.

The minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating three major road projects worth Rs 1,100 million that would be completed within one year.

Nisar said that the government was well aware of the sufferings of the masses because of power outages and crises, but it was making an all out efforts to facilitate the masses. He expressed hope that the power crisis would be brought under control within next two years which would accelerate the economic activities in the country. He said that with improvement in the electricity generation situation, the development process will also accelerate.

Nisar said that through personal efforts he had the said projects approved by the Punjab chief minister, which would be accomplished within the stipulated timeframe to benefit maximum citizens of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The three projects opened by the interior minister include widening, mending of road from Airport Road Noor Khan Airbase to Koral Chowk (4.2Km) at a cost of Rs 502 million. The second project includes restructuring of road from GT Road to Scheme III (4.2Km) at a cost of Rs 310 million. The third project includes construction and improvement of road from Punjab Housing Foundation (PHF) to Gourakhpur (5.3Km) at the cost of Rs 280 million.
