There’s this big broast chain in Lahore that draws all sorts of crowds. But for some reason the food inspector suddenly showed up to ‘inspect’ the kitchen. This is all the rage these days, really. So they shut down the kitchen and arrested the owner. But that’s not all. It recently happened to another place also. This one’s way bigger, and draws way bigger people. The owner’s are pretty influential, you know. But someone complained of some takeaway not being fresh one day. Sure enough, food inspector knocked there too. Turned out the meat was stale. And of course the kitchen was ‘unhygienic’. Now this is one of those joints where a meal costs an arm and a leg. Tell that to the rich and famous.

The owners of a certain food company way out on Bahawalpur Road take Ramzan more seriously than most people, apparently. They put out an executive order at the beginning of the holy month. Everybody’s to attend the fast-track 6-day special namaz-e-tiravi sessions. Everybody’s gotta go. And remember, those who don’t show up will take a cut in the next cheque. Simple as that. And take this. The senior manager signed the order, and he was Sr Manager Accounts, Supply Chain, Purchase, Admin and HR! Seems some are just more shari’a compliant than others, and more multi-purpose.
