NA-122 alleged rigging case adjourned till 19th

An election tribunal on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the NA-122 alleged rigging case till June 19, 2015.

The tribunal comprising Justice (retd) Kazim Ali Malik was hearing the election petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who was challenging the position of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who won from the NA-122 Lahore constituency.

Earlier, Imran Khan’s counsel Anis Hashmi continued his arguments and contended that NA-122 elections were not conducted in a transparent and free manner in accordance with the election laws. The counsel also put some documents on record.

However, Ayaz Sadiq’s counsel Barrister Asjad Saeed objected that the documents were not relevant.

The tribunal after hearing the arguments at length adjourned the matter till June 19, 2015, and directed Imran Khan’s counsel to continue his arguments on the next date of hearing.

Later, talking with media, Ayaz Sadiq’s counsel Barrister Asjad Saeed said that he would reply to questions raised by Imran Khan’s counsel in his arguments. “However, many things were repeatedly said during the hearing,” he said and added: “On one hand they express dissatisfaction with NADRA, polling staff, form 14 & 15 and other matters but simultaneously rely on them in arguments.”
