As many as five suspected Lyari gangsters were killed in two separate pre-dawn shootouts on Saturday.
According to a Rangers press release, the paramilitary personnel in collaboration with police conducted a targeted operation in LyariTown’s Chakiwara area against criminals associated with the gang war in the locality.
When law enforcement personnel reached near the suspected criminals’ hideout, they opened indiscriminate fire and tried to escape. During the encounter, three of them were killed and few others managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Those who were killed have been identified as Majid alias Rickshaw Wala, Abdul Samad alias Mulla and Imam Bux alias Khairo. The three were reportedly associated with the Uzair Baloch group.
Meanwhile, another encounter took place during a separate joint operation in Lyari’s Behar Colony area. Two suspected criminals Arslan alias Mulla and Junaid alias Kaka were killed during the encounter. Both were reportedly associated with the Baba Ladla group, a rival gang of the Uzair Baloch Group.
All five killed were reportedly involved in heinous crimes including, murders, kidnapping for ransom, robberies and extortion. Law enforcement personnel also claim to have recovered weapons during the targeted operation.
