APSTA demand increase in salaries, pension by 15 pc in KP budget

All Primary School Teachers Association (APSTA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday demanded 15 percent increase in the salaries and pension of the provincial government’s employees and one-step promotion to all from BPS 6 to 15.

APSTA spokesman Noor Habib Khan said that 10 percent increase in salaries and pension for government employees announced by the PTI led Government in its 3rd budget was very low keeping in view the present price-hike across the province.

He said that teachers were unable to provide for their families due to their low income and minimal wage. He added that quality education and health services had become far-fetched dreams for them.

Habib termed the decision of PTI-led coalition government regarding one-step promotion as imposition on those government employees whose services were either upgraded collectively or individually between July 1, 2010 and July 1, 2015. He said that getting a 40 percent general pay and financial benefits in terms of special salary or allowances was illogical.

He urged PTI Chief Imran Khan and Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak to review the decision and give one-step promotion to all employees working in BPS 6 to BPS 15. The spokesman appreciated KP government for increasing medical allowance by 25 % in the budget.

The merger of 2011 and 2012 adhoc relief allowances in the basic pay and enhancement of allowances of Science and Technology and PhD from existing Rs 7500 and Rs 2250 respectively to 10,000 per month was praiseworthy, he added. He also appreciated two pay scales up gradation to employees of BPS-1 to five.

The spokesman said that an increase of the charge allowance of heads of primary and middle, high and higher secondary schools’ teachers from Rs 40 to Rs 350, and Rs 600 and Rs 750 rupees respectively was the old demand of the teachers and lauded the Provincial Government for accepting their demands.
