Seven of a family die in Rawalpindi house fire

Seven members of a family s were killed when fire erupted in a house in Scheme III area of Rawalpindi on Wednesday. The incident occurred in limits of Airport police station.

According to rescue officials, fire caused by short-circuit suddenly engulfed the whole house at Raza Plaza, killing Shaukat, his wife and their five children  Additionally, two women also received burn injuries.

Fire fighters forced their way into the house to battle the blaze and brought it under control after a few hours of hectic efforts.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the DistrictHeadquartersHospital.

Eyewitnesses in the neighbourhood said that the fire began at around 7:30am. After seeing smoke and fire in the upper portion of the house, neighbours called Rescue 1122 services.

By the time the rescue team entered the house, the members of the family had already passed away due to asphyxiation.

The police are investigating the incident to find out the reason behind fire.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the tragic incident and summoned a report from the local administration.
