Karachi police officer frees 40 suspects for Rs700,000 bribe

A police officer is alleged to have released 40 people rounded up from Moosa Colony of Karachi in return for a bribe worth Rs700,000, according to revelations made by sources.

Local police apprehended 40 suspected people during a search operation in Moosa Colony.

After conducting an inquiry into the scam, DIG West removed SP Liaquatabad Tahir Noorani from his office for involvement in the offence. Meantime, a beater who used to collect money for his officers has also been dismissed from service.
