Backing the actions of Rangers in Karachi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday put his weight behind the paramilitary force while its actions were being assailed by the provincial government.
Speaking to reporters after hearing of the judicial commission probing claims of systematic rigging in the last general elections, the PTI chief said the people of Karachi know the way in which mafias are operating in the provincial metropolis.
“Asif Ali Zarari has used very harsh language against army while Nawaz Sharif has come to his rescue” Khan remarked.
“When PTI staged a sit-in outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Asif Ali Zardari supported Nawaz Sharif,” he said, adding that Charter of Democracy (CoD) signed between the two parties was in fact a charter of “muk muka”.
Answering a question, he said that opposition parties should ask for the resignation of Nawaz Sharif before demanding it from the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“They are hypocrites. They did not back our demands for the resignation of Nawaz Sharif for rigging in 2013 polls, but wasted no time for seeking the ouster of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. If Nawaz Sharif steps down, we will follow suit,” he offered.
