A horrified KFC customer claims to have found a deep fried RAT in his takeaway.

Stunned Devorise Dixon said he was tucking into a box meal in Wilmington, California, when he spotted a ‘tail’ on what he at first thought was a strangely-shaped breaded chicken breast.

Upon closer inspection, he said this turned out to be a deep fried rat.

KFC bosses told the Mirror an investigation found no evidence to support this claim – but did not confirm what the piece of food was.

Devorise uploaded several pictures and a video of the supposed rodent on Facebook, before sealing it in a bag and putting it in the freezer.

He wrote he then went back to the store on Wednesday, June 10, and complained to the manager.

Alongside the pictures, Devorise wrote: “As I bit into it I noticed that it was very hard and rubbery which made me look at it. As I looked down at it I noticed that it was was in a shape of a rat with a tail.

“It sent deep chills throughout my whole body! I’ve been feeling weird ever since. It’s time for a lawyer, be safe don’t eat fast food!”

A KFC spokesperson said: “This happened in the US and, following an immediate investigation, no evidence was found to support this claim.

“Food safety is our highest priority worldwide and we take allegations of this nature extremely seriously.”

Several social media users suggested it may have been a piece of chicken shaped like a rat.

Tom Phan said: “I can’t believe everyone just jumps boat and assumes it’s a rat.

“Look at it carefully. It looks like there’s white chicken breast below the breading.

“The tail thing could just be a piece of chicken skin. This actually looks really good. Tell him to cut it open… Why doesn’t anyone doubt this?”

US KFC didn’t comment on the claims directly and were unable to be reached this morning because of the time zone difference.

KFC South Africa however, wrote in response to one Tweet: “This post is from the U.S. and they conducted an investigation. Please rest assured that the allegations are not true.”

Mirror Online has contacted both US and UK KFC for a comment.

  1. I have to admit, I find it funny that there is an advertisement for KFC at the bottom of this aticle, and it's offering "free coupons"!

  2. I worked for KFC for years. The chicken is hand breaded. If the cooked didn't noticed they were breading a rat, they need to be fired. It could not have been a rat unless an employee REALLY angry at something.
