Cop frees 40 suspects for Rs 0.7 million bribe

A police officer is alleged to have released 40 people rounded up from Karachi area of Moosa Colony in return for a bribe worth Rs 700,000 according to revelations made overnight by sources.

It should be mentioned here that local police had apprehended 40 suspected people during a search operation in Moosa Colony. All the suspects were freed by police officers who received seven hundred thousand rupees in bribe.

After conducting an inquiry into the scam, the DIG West removed SP Liaquatabad Tahir Noorani from his office for involvement in the offence. Meantime, a beater, who used to collect money for his officers, has also been dismissed from service.
