Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Wednesday that a record sum of Rs. 34 billion was being spent on the beautification, widening of roads, construction of parks and building flyovers in Peshawar. He said that the development will help restore the past glory of the provincial metropolis.
While addressing the ground breaking ceremony of “Bab-e-Peshawar Flyover”, Khattak said that the project will be completed at the cost of Rs. 1.7 billion in a record time of four months.
The Chief Minister said that the provincial government was giving special attention to resolve the problems of the people of Peshawar by developing the ancient city with the aim of restoring its past glory. “Today a visible change is being witnessed in Peshawar. It is a result of implementing the agenda of change”, he remarked. He remarked that over the past two years home work was carried in all the districts across the province for the eradication of encroachments and interference of the “Qabza Mafia”.
Pervez Khattak further said that two schemes with the name of Peshawar uplift and Peshawar beautification were being completed at a cost of Rs. 6 billion. Under these schemes, the construction and rehabilitation work of various internal city roads including the GT Road and Jamrud Road had been completed and the introduction of U-turns had considerably contributed towards improving the traffic flow in the city. He said that the provision of alternate routes for the heavy vehicles of Afghan Transit Trade on the new highway from Ring Road to Frontier road was going on speedily.
Moreover, 13 parks have been rehabilitated by carrying out forestation on green belts and various main roads. Khattak further said that the construction work on the park situated at the meeting point of Ring Road and Motorway had been completed while the reconstruction and beautification work on the roads situated on both side of the WarsakGravityCanal was in progress.
