The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday barred the National Accountability Bureau from arresting former chief secretary Sindh Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha and Sindh Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Chairman, Subhan Memon, in pursuance of its inquiry into an alleged land fraud case.

A division bench headed by Justice Sadiq Hussain Bhatti directed the NAB officials to place on record the details of charges against two bureaucrats and documentary evidence on the next hearing.

The court also issued notice to the respondents – NAB chairman, Sindh NAB director general and investigating officers to respond to the petition till June 29, 2015.

Petitioners, Pasha and Memon through their counsel Shaukat Hayat submitted that they had learned through the papers that NAB had initiated an inquiry against them for their alleged involvement in a land fraud case. Refuting any their involvement in the fraud, the petitioners said that they were ready to face the charges provided that any shred of evidence is shown to back them up.

The petitioners pleaded with the court to issue directives for the respondent authorities to place on record the details of the case and evidence against them. The court was further requested to restrain the NAB officials from arresting them.
