Nine convicted killers sent to the gallows in Punjab

Another nine condemned prisoners have been hanged till their death in different cities of Punjab early Tuesday’s morning, according to local media sources.

Convicted prisoner, Ashraf, who subjected a 12-year girl to sexual assault in 1999, has breathed his last hanging from the hangman’s halter at this daybreak in Gujranwala’s Central Jail.

Meantime, a convicted killer, who was slated to be hanged today at Gujranwala’s Central Jail , got reprieve as the concerned parties struck a compromise deal hours before his hanging. Saeed, who took lives of three people in 1990.

In Jehlum also, a death row prisoner, former traffic head constable, Abdur Rauf was executed in District Jail around today’s dawn. The convict assassinated a bridegroom, Ilyas over a matchmaking dispute in 1996 just moments before his marriage.

In Sialkot also, a death house inmate, Basharat has been sent to gallows in District Jail this morning. Basharat killed a man in 1997.

Convict, Younis killed three people including two women in 2000 over a family feud. Younis has been executed in Faisalabad’s Central Jail earlier today.

Another convict, Allah Ditta hanged at the gallows in Central Jail of Faisalabad for killing a woman in 1999.

In Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail, a killer was hanged and the other’s hanging was stayed at the order of Lahore High Court. Mukhtar has been hanged at the gallows for killing a man in 2004.

The other convict, Khizar Hayat’s execution was put on hold at the LHC’s stay order. He took life of a man in Shad Bagh in 2001.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, Asghar hanged at the gallows this morning in the city’s Central Jail. He killed his nephew over a matchmaking brawl.

Two death row convicts also met their fate at Bahawalpur’s Central Jail. Ghulam Rasool killed three people including a woman in 1999. The other convict Muhammmed Asghar took life of a man during a robbery in 2002.
