Seven killed, 12 injured in Talagang dumper-van collision

At least seven people died and 12 others were injured in a collision between a van and dumper on Sunday.

Rescue sources said that a Chakwal-bound passenger van coming from Mianwali collided head-on with an over speeding dumper carrying construction material at Chakwal Road in Talagang.

Four people died on the spot while 15 sustained critical wounds. The bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital of Chakwal, where three more succumbed to their wounds, raising death toll to seven.

According to hospital sources, many wounded people were in a critical condition and it was feared that death toll could rise further.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana Sunday expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in road accident in Talagang, Chakwal.

The chief minister condoled with the bereaved families and ordered hospital administration to provide best possible treatment facilities to the injured.

Separately in Ziarat, two including a child died and three others were injured when a vehicle plunged into a gorge on Sunday.

Levies sources said that a private car got out of control of driver apparently due to speeding and fell into a ravine in main town of Ziarat. A child was among the two who passed away in the accident while three others were critically injured. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital.

In a separate incident in Bhakkar, as many as 14 people were injured when a speeding passenger bus overturned on Sunday.

Rescue sources said that a passenger bus turned turtle at Dajal Road in Bhakkar after it got out of control of driver due to speeding.
