All arrangements have already been finalised for the first Karawood international film festival in Pakistan and KWIFF has received 140 films from Pakistan and other countries in this regard.
The festival will begin on the fourth day of Eid in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The best films in different categories will be given cash prizes of $5000, $3000, and $2000. However, the best feature film will get a grand award.
In this regard, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Cinepax and KWIFF. CEO of the first Karawood film festival Batool Khan addressed a red-carpet ceremony at a local Mall and said that this festival would break the inertia from local film industry.
President of the first Karawood film festival Khalid Khan said this festival would help in further promoting the soft image of Pakistan in the whole world. He said Pakistan is a peaceful country having ample scope for the cultural activities.
CEO of Cinepax Hashim Raza said this crucial festival would prove a milestone for Pakistani film and cinema industry and would surely help in the revival of this important industry.
Junaid Hashmi, CEO of HICHAIV, said films of international standard could also be made in Pakistan. He said they had a lot of talent but lack proper resources. Model Nadia Khan said they hoped that this film festival would be highly successful and provide entertainment to people. Film star Imran Abbas suggested that film festival should be made an annual event and arranged regularly.
TV Actor Naheed Shabir said Pakistani artists and actors were very talented and they should be promoted. Film Maker Hassan Soomro said it was necessary that the government of Pakistan should support their film industry.
