Two brothers among five gunned down in Quetta

At least five men were killed in different incidents in Quetta on Saturday.

Two men were killed when unidentified militants opened fire at a barber shop in Mano Jan area, killing two men, both of whom were brothers. The attackers escaped unhurt from the spot.

In another incident, two people were shot dead by unidentified attackers in Double Road area. Another person was gunned down near the Eastern Bypass area in Quetta.

Police officials termed the incidents as acts of targeted killing.

These incidents come two days after the militants killed four policemen in Pashtoonabad area of the provincial capital of Balochistan.

Meanwhile, police and other law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown against target killers in Quetta and conducted several raids in Pashtoonabad, Mehmoodabad and other areas during which 243 suspects were arrested.

The detained men were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. Police also claimed the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the possession of some of the arrested men.

Quetta and other parts of Balochistan have recently seen sharp rise in acts of targeted killings.
