A local court on Saturday extended interim bail of former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza till July 4 in a case regarding rioting and obstructing police work.

Mirza, who was already facing multiple cases on charges of creating violence in Badin, was booked in another case by Karachi police last month for forcibly climbing on an armoured personnel carrier of police from where he delivered his speech and allegedly threatened police officers.

In a statement recorded at Aram Bagh police station, he said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawyers tried to manhandle him that was why he climbed on police vehicle for his safety.

The judicial magistrate extended the interim bail of Zulfikar Mirza till July 4 and adjourned hearing of the case.
