Doctor’s alleged negligence takes newborn’s life

A newborn died at the Rawalpindi District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital on Saturday due to alleged negligence of a doctor.

The infant’s health deteriorated all at a sudden and the family sought the administration’s help to call a doctor, who, according to the family, failed to turn up on time despite repeated calls.

After the incident, the victim’s family protested with the body at Fawara Chowk and the father of the victim attempted self-immolation. However, passers-by intervened and stopped him from committing suicide.

Meanwhile, Ghanjmandi Police said that an FIR has been registered against Dr SM Khalid Randwana on a complaint of the victim’s family. Further investigation is under way, the police said.
