Where’s the minor girl’s rapist? SC asks police

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court Thursday while adjourning a hearing of a suo motu notice regarding non-arrest of culprits of minor girl rape case for four weeks directed police to arrest the criminal.

The bench comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed was hearing the matter.

As proceedings started, SP CIA Umar Virk submitted a report and informed that 190 persons were investigated in connection with the case but real culprit could not be arrested.

At this, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed asked how much time was required. The culprit staying at large was troubling, he added.

However, the bench adjourning the further hearing for four weeks and directed the police to arrest the culprit.

Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the suo motu notice after news broke in the media on December 21, 2013, that the culprit had not been arrested.
