PM arrives in Karachi, decision to be taken on Rangers report

KARACHI:

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi today on a day long visit, during which he has claimed to hold meetings with politicians and members of business community, according to reports.

The PM is scheduled to inaugurate an oil refinery in Hub industrial area near Karachi, besides meeting members of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) amid foolproof security arrangements, sources claimed.

Sources said key decisions are likely during the PM’s visit, in the wake of a shocking report of Rangers which revealed that more than Rs.230 billion are being generated annually from Karachiites through extortion and other illegal means, adding that part of the huge amount was also being used for terror-funding, Lyari gang war and criminal activities across the city, authorities stated.
