Multan bus hijacking mystery solved, man detained over hoax call

A man has been detained over a hoax call made about a bus being ‘hijacked’ near Khanewal, authorities stated.

According to a local media outlet, Tanveer was one of the passengers on the bus, and told the authorities over phone that armed men were trying to force the bus to Dera Ghazi Khan.

Responding to the false alarm, the law enforcement agencies spun into action and immediately dispatched search parties. Eventually, the bus and the passengers were was found safe and sound near a small town between Multan and Khanewal.

Earlier, the mystery of the hijacking of the said bus was solved when National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) spotted the bus by the wayside.

It was also reported that alleged hijackers were trying to take the bus to Dera Ghazi Khan, a mid-country city located on the junction of all the four provinces of Pakistan, ie Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
