Students of popular universities across the city are going to participate in three-day sports festival starting from 11th June to 14th June to be held in NCC Sports Complex, NBP Sports Complex and 100 campuses of SZABIST University, said Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Tuesday.
He said the event was organised in collaboration with Commissioner Karachi Youth Team and SZABIST University with the cooperation of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). Students of notable private universities of the country were taking part in the sports festival including IoBM, NUST, Bahria University, Greenwich University, Iqra University, Indus University, Dow Medical College, DHA Suffa University and Hamdard University. The sports competitions include table tennis, badminton, volleyball, throw-ball, cricket, football, squash, tennis, hockey, basketball and swimming.
“The goal behind organising the sports competitions is to promote sports activities and its importance among youth, so that, they could avoid social and ethnic conflicts. These competitions will provide opportunity to the youth to get recognise their talent in the world for which media will cooperate with us,” he said while addressing a press briefing at his office.
