Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Sindh is the land of Sufis and their teachings can be used to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country.
He expressed these views while speaking to media on the occasion of his visit to the shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar on the last day of his three-day 763rd Urs celebration held at Sehwan.
“The Sindh government is ready for local bodies’ election in the province where besides providing some facilities, the provincial government would make all efforts to maintain law and order situation during election,” he said.
Now it was responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold local government elections in the province, he said, adding under the verdict of Supreme Court of Pakistan, the election would be held by September 30.
He also suggested that the elections should be held in three phases so that the transparency and fairness in elections could be ensured to avert incidents similar to which occurred in KPK.
Better arrangements have been made this year as compared to last year in view of Urs celebration but some deaths occurred due to various reasons where some people have died of asthama, cardiac and others reasons, he said while expressing sorrow over the deaths.
The figure of death is less than figure of deaths occurred last year, he said, while expressing sympathies with families of victims.
